What is technical drawing?

Types of technical drawing

Within the technical drawing, some specific types are included, such as:

  • Architectural, technical drawing. It encompasses different graphic representations, which are used to make plans for the future construction of buildings, houses, bridges, institutes, etc.
  • Mechanical, technical drawing. Its use is required to realize plans representing parts of a machine, automobiles, airplanes, motorcycles, and industrial machinery.
  • Electrical technical drawing. It is used to represent simple electrical installations, such as those of a home, or rather complex ones, such as those of industry. The latter usually clearly reports the location of the main panel, the switches, and the outlets, among others.
  • Geological technical drawing. Used in geology and geography to represent the various layers of the earth through a symbology that allows knowing the minerals found in said layer.
  • Urban drawing. It represents the development and infrastructure of cities and other urban centers, both existing and in the project stage.
  • Topographic drawing. It is dedicated to capturing on a map the main characteristics of a piece of land, such as height, slope, the presence of natural or artificial accidents, elevations, and contour lines.
  • Technical drawing of the stand and art installations. It aims to represent all clean facilities: barepresentsink, etc. In turn, it also means the location of external and internal pipes.
